The Bali Process Senior Official Co-Chairs undertook a joint ‘good offices’ visit to Bangladesh to demonstrate support for regional cooperation and to engage directly with national counterparts on issues relating to irregular migration. As part of the visit, the Co-Chairs travelled to Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, where they visited Rohingya camps to observe conditions on the ground and gain first-hand insights into the humanitarian situation. During these visits, the Co-Chairs exchanged information on broader regional migration dynamics, including irregular maritime movements through the Andaman Sea to Indonesia.

In Dhaka, the Co-Chairs held consultations with key ministries and government representatives to discuss the shared regional challenge of large-scale Rohingya displacement. Discussions focused on identifying opportunities for enhanced collaboration through the Bali Process, particularly in the areas of information sharing, capacity building, and practical cooperation between member states. The meetings underscored the importance of a collective regional response to address both the immediate humanitarian needs of displaced populations and the longer-term risks of irregular migration, people smuggling, and trafficking in persons.

The visit reinforced the role of the Bali Process as a trusted platform for dialogue, partnership, and practical action. By engaging directly with frontline states such as Bangladesh, the Co-Chairs highlighted the need for ongoing cooperation, joint problem-solving, and regionally coordinated approaches to managing complex migration challenge
